This department serves as a clearinghouse for quality chapter youth programs that address issues affecting youth while preparing them for full participation in society as adults. STATE OF OUR BLACK YOUTH

(SOBY)

The State of Our Black Youth Report (SOBY) is an assessment of the quality of life for African American youth living in Indiana. Indiana Black Expo, Inc. has incorporated three incarnations of the study – the most recent released in December 2014.

Indiana Black Expo, Inc. engaged Engaging Solutions, LLC and The Polis Center at IUPUI to develop the 2014 report. The purpose of this report is to provide comprehensive data to assist in the allocation of appropriate services and programs to Indiana’s over 200,000 Black youth. The 2014 report, third in the series, provides updates for data contained in the 2005 and 2007 reports, as well as data for new indicators.

Additionally, the report offers promising practices to address challenges and enhance strengths identified by the data.
